Put the server in co-location setup run level for ssh/and other services.

1. NetworkManager off  =  not after physicall login to console and then initial network.

[root@shamun ~]# chkconfig NetworkManager off
[root@shamun ~]# chkconfig network on
[root@shamun ~]# chkconfig | grep -iE ‘network|sshd’
NetworkManager  0:off   1:off   2:off   3:off   4:off   5:off   6:off
network         0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off
sshd            0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off

* by doing this we are safe that ethernet is up, from public access. and then put other services run level 345 etc.
